Ashley Madison Hack-
The Importance of Cyber Safety

In July of 2015, hackers calling themselves "The Impact Team" successfully hacked into and took information from the Ashley Madison site. It included emails, names, and account histories of about 32 million users. The social implications of this are massive. It not only proves that major websites claiming to be sucure are not, and also showed the dishonesty of the company itself, after it had not deleted account information when when users had paid to close accounts. The effects this had on the people are serious and ongoing. When the information was put on the internet, many people who were on the list feared public humiliation. There were a few suicides repoerted, as well as hate crimes agaist users. This is especiall harmful to the spouses and children of those people, as they will feel the same humiliation having done nothing, and the effects of this will be on the internet forever. This really stresses the importance of cyber safety. Nothing on the internet can truly be 100% secure. You can protect yourself by never putting anything on the internet that you don't want others to see. Always use secure passwords, instead of "qwerty", "12345", "password", etc, and never give out any personal information or passwords.
